Is "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" better than the first movie? YES! Do the images match with those brought to mind whilst reading the book? YES - and how! The second part of this visually stunning feast finally opens and what an incredible meal this is. Yet again, the movie ends at least 30 minutes before you think it will, as 3 hours simply fly by. The Ents really do look like they should and are completely believable. Gollum/Sméagol is the film's masterpiece, completely capturing the audience's emotions. The scenes at Helm's Deep, using a full size set in a suitable New Zealand valley, are jaw droppingly amazing. If this film doesn't capture more deserving Oscars this time then it will be clear that the whole Oscars system is seriously flawed. Roll on December 2003! Opened December 2002.

What a disappointment "Star Trek: Nemesis" turned out to be. Mainly thanks to the way this movie was treated in London's West End, stuffed in the tiniest screen of the dreadful Warner West End, it felt like a home movie in someone's tiny living room. At the Empire, Leicester Square , this film would have felt grand and majestic, the special effects would have been immensely impressive and the plot would have felt expansive and original. Sadly this film was released at a bad time, with too much competition elsewhere, there was no hype, no big screen opening (apart from the premiere which I refused to attend after the complete fiasco of a previous Next Generation premiere). It received a bad press in the US and as a result was treated badly here in the UK. Yes the plot is similar to "Wrath of Khan", but what the heck this is Star Trek, on the 'big' screen again! What more can you ask for? Perhaps a movie not being taken over by two of the cast. Perhaps I will feel different when I see it again, on DVD, NOT at the Warner! Opened January 2003.

Remakes are quite popular at the moment in Hollywood and "Solaris" is one of the latest offerings. How this will compare with the classic Russian original we have yet to find out. suffice to say that this version stars George Clooney, which will be enough information for some to decide to watch it. Opened February 2003.

The US seem to spend millions on a fair number of preposterous projects. "The Core" is their latest 'waste of space', or at least that's how it sounds. With a major problem at the earth's core the only way to solve it is for the Americans to save us all by going there and nuking it! Gee, aren't they just wonderful? Opened March 2003.

The start of the many sequels due out this year is signalled with the release of "X2". with many of the original cast returning, including Patrick Stewart. Opened May 2003.

After an incredibly long 'boot-up' time (remind you of a famous operating system?) we finally get "The Matrix Reloaded". Again, with many of the original cast returning to fight the software. Reloaded May 2003.

Coming soon to a cinema near you!

Trailers are already playing for "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines", whilst it looks as though it will be quite exciting I can't help but feel that it appears rather similar to the previous movie. What saddens me further is the knowledge that these trailers have been getting cheers and standing ovations in 'theatres' across the US! Due to open August 2003.

Just like so much software these days you get no updates for ages, then two in one year! Here we go around again with "The Matrix Revolutions". Final upgrade due November 2003.

What can one say? We are promised a movie that is even better (and longer) than "The Two Towers" with "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King". This is all set to be a major conclusion to a simply stunning trilogy.Due to open December 2003.
